Even when one’s home, family, employment, and even one’s place
of residence are stripped away as a consequence of the decision to
receive and follow Jesus, at the end of it all, the restoration and
peace that is God’s gift to us in Christ Jesus far surpasses any
transitory suffering. And for me, in God’s time, all, and much
more, have been restored.
Just as Paul and Silas praised their God from the cell of their
imprisonment, this month’s song was, and is, an evidence to Gods
all surpassing grace and provision in our times of trial. It was
written in the peace and gratitude that was God’s gift to me in the
midst of suffering and loss. It was the confession of a restored life
and peace that no person or circumstance could take away.

Lyrics

I remember days gone by
Sitting now a tear in my eye
A child, a kite, and a windy sky
Flying high

Looking back upon those years
Looking now through cleansing tears
That wash my heart
You are so dear to me

To You I have returned
Reborn, in the love I have learned
In You

Lord through me let your love flow
Upon our children as they grow
That in our life we might know
Love that’s free

A child, a kite, and a windy sky
Laughter flowing free and high
Clouds that paint a blue, blue sky
Are all of thee

To You I have returned
Reborn, in the love I have learned
In you

I remember days gone by
Sitting now a tear in my eye
A child, a kite, and a windy sky
Flying high

I pray that every man would know
Your breath of life upon his soul
Making new that which was old
Setting free

To You I have returned
Reborn, in the love I have learned
In You
