The writing of this song was the result of a very long conversation I had late one evening
with a man who was my senior by at least twenty years. I was put in the position of
explaining and defending my faith in the truth and relevance of the Bible, but every
reason and argument that I brought forth was met with a skepticism and unbelief that
were more like smokescreens and diversions than honest, thoughtful responses.
I believe that God has put in every man’s heart a place to receive the Love of God in
Christ.
“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in
him shall not perish but have eternal life.” John 3:16 NIV
I believe that every man is graciously and mercifully afforded the opportunity to receive
the salvation that cost God the sacrificial death of His Son.
“But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ
died for us.” Romans 5:8 NIV
Jesus said, “Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door
will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him
who knocks, the door will be opened.” Matthew 7:7-8 NIV
The Truth is there to be found. It is God’s gift to those who search for it. This is a
tremendous comfort to me as I pray for those who are as yet to have eyes to see and ears
to hear the Gospel.
“Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled.”
Matthew 5:6 NIV
If we treasure truth, we will seek it and be satisfied with nothing less. If we seek it, we
are promised that it will be revealed to us. It is a Matter of the Heart. “For where your
treasure is, there your heart will be also.” Matthew 6:21 NIV
Lyrics
Heaven or Hell, is ours’ one day
No smoke screen or diversion
Is going to save me from my way
In the heart, your heart
It’s a matter of the heart
Well it’s perfect and it’s simple
And it’s just and true
Cause in the end my friend
It’s eternity and you
And your heart, the heart
It’s a matter of the heart
Hidden away at first, far from me
The answer to your question
The pivotal key
Not always what you say
Not always what we do
Known only to God
Known only to you
In your heart
On Damascus road, the good lord showed
His Mercy
To a wayward heart, a brand new start
Gave He
On the other hand my friend
Pride kills
On the battlefield of your heart
Struggle two wills
If the Truth is what you seek
The Truth is what you’ll find
But if you choose to choose yourself
We’re running out of time
In the heart
What can wash away my sin
Nothing but the Blood of Jesus
Who do you Love
What can make me whole again
Nothing but the Blood of Jesus
Who do you love
Oh precious is the flow
Nothing but the Blood of Jesus
Who do we love
No other fount I know
Nothing but the Blood of Jesus
Who do we love
Amazing Grace
Nothing but the Blood of Jesus
Amazing Grace
