This song is a Lament. It is my personal experience and expression of the
truth that we see set forth by the apostle Paul in Romans chapters 6,7 and 8.
Romans 7:21 – 25 (NIV)
“So I find this law at work: Although I want to do good, evil is right there
with me. For in my inner being I delight in God’s law; but I see another law
at work in me , waging war against the law of my mind and making me a
prisoner of the law of sin at work within me. What a wretched man I am!
Who will rescue me from this body that is subject to death? Thanks be to
God, who delivers me through Jesus Christ our Lord. So then I myself in my
mind am a slave to God’s law, but in my sinful nature a slave to sin.”
Thank God for His word to us in Ephesians 2:8 – 10 (NIV)
“For it is by grace that you have been saved, through Faith – and this not from
yourselves, it is the gift of God – not by works, so that no one can boast. For
we are Gods workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which
God prepared in advance for us to do.”
It is His will that we be sanctified and set apart for His purposes.
Let us cry out to Him that Christ be formed in us to the Glory of His Name!
Lyrics
Why do I cry for only fleeting moments
When my tears like a river should trail
When the One that I love, He is faithful and true
But time and time again I only fail
Still He patiently, waits by my side
For my blindness, He bled and died
Still a greater sin, if His love I deny
Oh, let me be sanctified
Why do I lean unto my own understanding
When my minds’ eye can see only so far
When my Lord He is calling,
He can keep me from falling
He sees the ending right from the start,
Yeah, seize the ending right from the start
Still He patiently, waits by my side
For my blindness, He bled and died
Still a greater sin, if His love I deny
Oh, let me be sanctified
